The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon

The Bone Season
 What they say

The year is 2059. Nineteen-year-old Paige Mahoney is working in the criminal underworld of Scion London, based at Seven Dials, employed by a man named Jaxon Hall. Her job: to scout for information by breaking into people’s minds. For Paige is a dreamwalker, a clairvoyant and, in the world of Scion, she commits treason simply by breathing.
It is raining the day her life changes for ever. Attacked, drugged and kidnapped, Paige is transported to Oxford – a city kept secret for two hundred years, controlled by a powerful, otherworldly race. Paige is assigned to Warden, a Rephaite with mysterious motives. He is her master. Her trainer. Her natural enemy. But if Paige wants to regain her freedom she must allow herself to be nurtured in this prison where she is meant to die.

What I Say
What can I say about this book apart from the fact I absolutely loved it?  I can't put into words how much I enjoyed it, I loved the idea of England that had been changed over a 100 years ago by a King Edward.

The book follows ths story of Paige Maloney in 2059, she is a dreamwalker that is outlawed by the Scion Government of the time.  I love Samantha's writing and all her characters are interesting whether you love them or hate them.  I found that I couldn't put it down.

I read this book after Holly Martins book and feel at a loss since, I am eagerly awaiting the next installment.  I loved Paige's fighting spirit and how she inspired the people around her to fight even though they felt that all the fight had been crushed out of them.  I found her relationship with the master, intriguing and all through the book I wanted him to come through for Paige.

I feel that my review has let such a wonderful book down but I can't express how much I enjoyed this.

For me this is definitely 5 out of 5 stars.
