After losing her childhood sweetheart, can Lillie really learn to love again?

Interview with Ellen Faith

Hi Ellen

Welcome to Comet Babes Books.

Hey Jo, thank you so much for having me on your blog!

Can you tell us more about Learn to Love Again?
Learn To Love Again focuses on Lillie Gilbert, a young woman who loses the love of her life far too soon and how she overcomes the grief of losing him. It's set in Barton-by-the-Sea, a fictional village that I based on Saltburn where my uncle lives. It's a close-knit community where everyone knows each other, but in Lillie's case, there are some villagers who that never thought she was good enough for her deceased husband, Nick. Some are friendly, but those that aren't really are wicked.
Lillie is in a really bad place but with the help of Sam, she slowly gets through the hurt.  Was this hard to write?
It was hard. On the days that I wrote the more emotional scenes, I had a bit of a cry. I think it was putting myself in Lillie's shoes that I found hard, how I would feel in that situation.

I love the cover as with all your books, could you tell us who designs them for you?
For Lexi and co, the wonderful Rebecca Berto designed my covers but for Learn To Love Again, I decided to do it myself. I'll be completely honest with you, the nerves were unreal when I put the cover out there for all to see but the response was incredible.

This story is totally different to your previous books, what inspires your writing?  Is it personal experience or do you have an idea and go with it?
Learn To Love Again is definitely different to my previous two! I always like to challenge myself though and push myself to write something that is a little different to the last. A lot of the time I do write from experience, sometimes I write things exactly how they happen, other times I adapt reality to protect the identity of the innocent haha on this occasion though, inspiration just hit me one afternoon and the story grew from there.

Are you a plotter or seat of your pants kinds of writer?
Over time I've become a bit of a 50/50 writer, some days I'll open my laptop and just write, others I'll have to sit down with a good old fashioned notepad and pen and plot.

Can you share with us a sneak peak of what you’re working on at the moment?
Ahhh, my next novel, Dear Darling will be coming this summer! I'm looking forward to you all meeting Adam and Ellie, its felt like a long time coming but it will be soon, I promise. It's already up on Goodreads and I'm hoping to announce a publication date early May.

I know you have been planning your wedding, has it been hard to fit writing in around all your other commitments?
SO HARD! I've struggled to manage keeping up to date with my writing and feel like I've let people down by neglecting it but I'm gradually getting back on top now. I think!

What would advice would you give to an aspiring author?
Just go for it! You never know until you try. The more you write the better you get, you find your voice and there really is nothing more satisfying than having your baby in print.

What's the worst advice you have ever received?
Oh gosh, probably to bombard every blogger you find with your book and think that every one of them would want to read every single genre out there.  The shame.  I was very new and very naïve; I now have the utmost respect for bloggers and understand what they do.

If one of your books was made into a film/TV series, who would you like as the leading lady/man?
Oooo well, I think I'd have to say Noah Mills and Blake Lively for my next novel

Tell us something about yourself that your readers wouldn’t know.
I'm pretty obsessive about Minions and currently having a major Netflix binge, Once Upon A Time is really quite addictive.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.

Jo xx

About The Author

Ellen lives in the wonderful county of Yorkshire, England where she spends most of her time baking, eating, baking, and eating. Occasionally she does leave the house to go to the cinema or do some food shopping though.

After spending years with an overactive imagination, she decided to put all the magic in her head to some good use and put finger to laptop where The Story of Us was born and became her debut novel. She loves to travel, her favourite destinations so far have all been in America, hence the love of all things, and all people, American. The food rocks pretty hard too, she ate until her jeans begged her to stop whilst she was there. True fact. Aside from daydreaming and eating, Ellen is a sucker for a lolcat, penguins and monkeys - she has never claimed to be normal.
