Guest Review - 7 Years Bad Sex by Nicky Wells

What They Say:

7 Years Bad Sex

One wedding. One curse?  Disaster ever after…

A seven-years-bad-sex curse? Surely not! Yet something went wrong when rock singer Casey and drummer Alex got married on that beautiful yacht anchored off St Tropez in the south of France. Something went badly wrong. For even on their wedding night, the young couple discovers a complete and somewhat surprising inability to make love. Muddling through their honeymoon with a string of thin excuses for their predicament, the lovers defer finding a solution (and panicking) until the return to their home in London. After all, they married for life and to make rock music, not for the love of sex. Right?

But when they resume life as normal in London, all hell breaks loose. Increasingly frantic in their quest for release, the unhappy newlyweds embark on a string of hilarious and occasionally harmful antics that drives them, their band, and an assortment of random strangers to the brink of despair. But it ain’t over ‘til it’s over or, in this case… it ain’t over ‘til the newlyweds sing.

What Sarah Says:

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story.  It made me laugh out loud in the middle of a restaurant while I was reading on my phone. (Waiting for the person I was meeting to arrive.)  It was that good I couldn’t stop myself from having a little read while I was out…..I don’t make a habit of reading in restaurants as much as I would love to.  I read the whole book in less than 24 hours.

I loved the characters and connected with them straight away especially Casey.  She was a down to earth real character and throughout the whole book I felt like she was one of my friends.  I forgot that I was real and the characters weren’t really around me and I so wanted to chat to them and give Casey advice especially when she is left stranded.  I really hoped that they would break the spell and Casey and Alex would work out and get passed it…..I will let you find out for yourself if they did.

It was such a comical read and I loved going on the couple’s journey trying to achieve actually getting to do the deed.  I laughed with some of the things they tried and think I almost felt as frustrated as they did when things didn’t work out as they should.  I felt all the emotions with the characters including been embarrassed for them when their shenanigans were publicly known.

Nicky has written the story so brilliantly that I truly believe it could turn out to be a real curse!  I can just imagine me been in Casey’s position on my wedding day and truly believe that this could be a real curse.  I always make sure when it is important to make eye contact with everyone now!

After finishing the book I really wanted to read more by Nicky and was so glad that I found another book of hers on my kindle.  I highly recommend this book and will have no second thoughts on buying every other book available that Nicky has written and will write in the future….hurry up with your next one please!

5 Out of 5 Stars

Says Nicky: This book came to me at a fancy dinner way back when in November 2013. It was a fairly drunken affair, and speeches were being made. We were all toasting each other and having fun. Then someone shouted at me. “You didn’t look at me. Argh! That means 7 Years Bad Sex.”

I don’t actually believe in curses, nor am I particularly superstitious. But at that precise moment, a story popped in my head in its entirety. The potential for entertainment with comic mishaps and other antics as a young couple tries to breathe life into their flagging romance was simply too delicious to ignore. And that’s how this book was born…

So what are you waiting for? Go and grab your copy, and the book will magically appear on your Kindle on the official release day of 14 May—not long to go. Here’s that link again:

  1. Oooh what a review! Thank you so very much for your thoughts on 7 Years Bad Sex, Sarah, and thanks to Jo for hosting the review on her fabulous blog today. I'm so thrilled that you enjoyed the story--even though I feel I ought to apologise that it distracted you so much in the restaurant, LOL. Here's wishing all your readers just as much fun with this romantic comedy of mine. Rock on! XX
