B-Side (Arielle Lockley Series Book 2.50 by Elle Field

B-Side (Arielle Lockley Series Book 2.5) blurb:

"What do I honestly know about the music industry? I'm just another idiot with a dream who is naive enough to hope that I might be the next big star."

Etta Millhouse has always had big musical ambitions to match her big voice, but she's also got three very big problems - the addiction she won't admit to, her godmother's illness that she can no longer ignore, and her godmother's useless business partner (who she wishes she could ignore).

Keeping an eye on Arielle's poor business decisions is the last thing Etta wants to do when she's offered the chance to record a demo with a top producer. But, a promise is a promise, even if it has her reaching for another pick-me-up... And then another. And then one more.

When the secret she must keep for her godmother, Felicity, sends her drug habit spiralling out of control, can Etta battle her demons in time and make her dream happen? Or, will her music career be over before it's even begun?

B-Side sits between Lost (out now) and Found (out summer 2016) in the Arielle Lockley series - read Etta's version of events in this gritty Lost spin-off.

Title: My top five tips for aspiring authors

Whilst I might have five books under my belt - B-Side is my fourth book, and my fifth book, Found, will be out later this summer -  I'm still learning with each book that I write. If I could go back though and talk to my younger self, here are the top five tips I'd share:

1. You're probably not going to become a #1 best seller with your début book, so you won't be able to give up your day job just yet. It's important that you make the most of your free time and write, write, write: The more you write, the better you will become; the better you become, the more chance you'll have of making your writing dreams happen!

2. Network, network, network! It doesn't have to be in person, though it's always lovely to put a real face to a name, but the rise of social media has made it easier than ever before to connect with authors, aspiring authors and book bloggers. Writing can be a lonely job, so it's important to have passionate people in your corner. Just remember though, this works both ways!

3. Stick to writing one book at a time. In the early stages of your first draft, you might find that your writer's block takes the form of you suddenly having a million other amazing ideas. This is, more often than not, trickery. You'll probably find that if you start writing one of these amazing new ideas that you'll reach, roughly, the same point and then have another million amazing ideas to tempt you, resulting in a lot of half-finished books. Keep at that one book until you finish it!
4. Every aspiring author (and author) needs to be a keen reader - if you love reading books, it's going to show in your writing. Make the time to catch up on the latest releases in your favourite genre, but also read other genres.
5. Finally, don't give up. Every author out there was rejected at one point or another, but the only reason they became a published author is because they kept at it. Take that rejection on the chin; one day you're going to be giggling at the publisher who turned down your book - the book which has just won you an award.

Good luck with your writing!

Fall in love with the gorgeous seaside town of White Cliff Bay this summer and enjoy long sunny days, beautiful beaches and… a little romance. Darcy Davenport is ready for a fresh start. But it’s not just the beautiful building that she finds so intriguing… Riley Eddison doesn’t want change. Desperate to escape the memories of his past, he lives a life of solitude in the lighthouse. Yet he can’t help but notice the gorgeous woman who swims out to his island one day. Darcy is drawn to the mysterious and sexy Riley, but when it seems the town is trying to demolish his home, she soon finds herself having to pick sides. She’s fallen in love with White Cliff Bay. But is that all Darcy’s fallen for? Pull up a deck chair, sink back with a bowl of strawberry ice cream and pick up the summer read you won’t be able to put down.

I would like to thank Bookouture for sending me this in exchange for a fair and honest review.

My first thought is of the gorgeous cover it absolutely shouts out to me and brings a warm summer glow to my heart.

The book begins when we meet the lovely Darcy after she has moved to White Cliff Bay, she has always been put down by her parents and although she has taken a job she doesn't really want it's her chance to find herself.

Darcy meets Riley, the handsome but reclusive owner of the lighthouse on Rose Island.  When she finds he is going to lose his home she decides to help him try to keep it, but not just because it's his but because it has its own significance to her Aunt.

I liked Darcy from page one she was an easily likeable characters.  Riley I wasn't keen on, I don't know why I just couldn't put my finger on what it was about him.  I guess I didn't click with him as a reader and for me that spoiled my enjoyment of this book.

As you all I know I love Hollys book's but for me this one just didn't grab me the way her books normally do.  Normally I can't put them down but this one I found parts of the description a little tedious, the words just didn't flow and I would find myself skipping over then to get to the action.

Having said all that the book is an easy read and I will miss visiting White Cliff Bay.  It was nice to catch up with characters from other books and would like to see more set around this gorgeous village.

Holly has been writing for six years. She was shortlisted for the New Talent Award at the Festival of Romance. Guest Post - The Neverland Wars by Audrey Greathouse

Magic can do a lot―give you flight, show you mermaids, help you taste the stars, and… solve the budget crisis? That's what the grown-ups will do with it if they ever make it to Neverland to steal its magic and bring their children home.

However, Gwen doesn't know this. She's just a sixteen-year-old girl with a place on the debate team and a powerful crush on Jay, the soon-to-be homecoming king. She doesn't know her little sister could actually run away with Peter Pan, or that she might have to chase after her to bring her home safe. Gwen will find out though―and when she does, she'll discover she's in the middle of a looming war between Neverland and reality.

She'll be out of place as a teenager in Neverland, but she won't be the only one. Peter Pan's constant treks back to the mainland have slowly aged him into adolescence as well. Soon, Gwen will have to decide whether she's going to join impish, playful Peter in his fight for eternal youth… or if she's going to scramble back to reality in time for the homecoming dance.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTION:

The youngest of all the children, he is also the most energetic. A fireball of passion and excitement at all times, he is unpredictable and wild. He's only quiet when he's asleep—although, to his credit, he sleeps like a brick in order to refuel his impossible enthusiasm for life. Spurt curls up when he sleeps, which is why the other lost children thought to get a dog bed for their puppy-like companion. He loves it.

Spurt learned to run before he knew how to walk, and he learned how to fly off to Neverland before he figured out a single thing about growing up. It is hard to hold his attention or keep him from interrupting in a story. He's an agreeable and good-tempered kid, but he is a lot to handle!

His desires are more whims than desires, and they flit through him as fast as feelings and thoughts flit through fairies. His emotions tend to oscillate from positive to negative with such speed that even he treats his feelings like arbitrary and irrelevant events.

His favorite color changes from day to day, sometimes even from minute to minute. Spurt lives entirely in the moment, with no memory of his life before Neverland and few ideas about what the future will bring. He doesn't remember how exasperated his parents always seemed to be with him. His joyful energy is much more appreciated now that he is among the lost children. Because his own mind is too chaotic to decide on goals, he takes his cues from friends and diligently follows their lead. When in doubt, he clings to nurturing Bard and lets her watch out for him. You can meet Bard atJessabella Reads and you can read about all the lost children in The Neverland Wars, out now!
